Ms. Renee Tiedemann was honored during the back to school breakfast at Moffett Elementary. She was celebrated by the teachers, staff, and surprised by her wonderful family.
Teacher of the Year Ms. Tiedemann accepted her award. She was surprised and overcome with emotions.
This is such an honor and quite a surprise! I have always believed strongly in the power of unions, working together for the greater good, and together makes better. I am truly grateful to work with my Lennox family. I not only grew up there, I have had the opportunity to work at every school in the district and have learned what very special people we have. Many are from Lennox who came back to give back, which was my mission as well. My life has been positively influenced by so many people in Lennox, and it continues to be. I want to thank the president, Mr. Justin Catalan for making the union fun, productive, for all he does for Lennox and the community. I also want to thank the person who nominated me, my chapter, for their faith in me, my husband for teaching me about the power of calmness, unfortunately that will be a lesson that takes a while! My hope is that I can make half the impact my teachers made on me as a child growing up in Lennox. I want to thank my 6th grade teacher, Mary Lang for being here tonight, My VP Maria Van Deventer, who is an angel on earth, and it runs in the family because her sister is the same way! I truly don’t know how we will survive next year when she retires! I also want to thank my staff, colleagues and everyone who shares my love for teaching who couldn’t be here tonight. I believe in high expectations for both teachers and students, accountability, and preparedness. While there are some things we could never prepare for, like the pandemic, or politics, which are completely out of our control, we can choose to respond to them with unity, strength, and helping people to choose the greater good. We got into teaching to share our passion with others and make a positive impact in the lives of the future. We strive to set a positive example for them and hope for the best. Hoping your careers are as fulfilling as mine has been and I am so thankful for this honor this evening. Thank you to all for sharing your passion and for all you do to make this world a better place.
